A History Rich With Mystery
Here in the high desert of Northern New Mexico, we exist in a world all our own. With a long and colorful history, our region of the world is rich in Native American, Hispanic and European culture.
As the oldest US capitol, Santa Fe has been around since 1610 and exhibits the architecture, art, and culture to prove it. There is an exoticism within Santa Fe, like nowhere else, where paved streets transform into winding dirt roads, handmade adobe walls lend mystery to what lies just behind, and an ancient spirit that is always present lurks around every twist and turn of the old town. This is the place of discovery and creation for artisans, seekers, and nomads alike…now it’s time to see what Santa Fe will reveal for you.
The city offers a diverse and impressive art scene, with over 250 galleries, a globally recognized Opera, an inventive and diverse culinary culture, and a multitude of museums and historical landmarks. Both in and outside of our city, visitors can step back in time and experience this land as it was hundreds of years ago—before settlers and explorers discovered it’s beauty.
Within an hour of Santa Fe, travelers can visit national parks and landmarks, such as Bandelier, with preserved cliff dwellings, the Santa Fe National Forest, with a myriad of hiking and biking trails, Lake Abiqiui and the Ghost Ranch, where you can view Georgia O’Keffee’s beloved Pedernal from right where she would have painted it, the enchanting High Road to Taos, sprinkled with historic villages, galleries and wineries, multiple ski basins for wintertime sports, and white water rafting in the summer months, just as a few of the many points of exploration that await the adventurer.
