We cannot wait for this one when @dethrali, the best dreampop/vaporwave/ambient/new wave (eh, forget genre tags) band in Denver, makes their way down to Santa Fe for two otherworldly nights at @themysticsantafe. The group will be playing songs from their phenomenal debut, Light Levels, and songs from the upcoming LP, Ruby’s Castle Island.
As if that isn’t rad enough, we have two amaaazing local openers for ya! On Friday, March 15, catch them with @lyra.muse, whose synth-based “woeful witchpop” will make you melt. For Saturday, March 16, we’ll have our very own @gold_tides making their 2024 live debut and blessing you with their signature surf goth sounds!

Death Rali
Deth Rali is the moniker of American artist & musician Jay Maike. Drawing inspiration from dream pop, vapor wave, and even metal, Deth Rali is known for moving fluidly between ideas and aesthetics to create the band’s unique, hypnagogic sound. Between their energetic live shows the band is now releasing a single each month from the new album ‘Ruby’s Castle Island’. This Miyazaki-inspired fantasy epic brings dark wave together with serenely sing-able melodies and kaleidoscopic harmonies over a backdrop of childhood memories and 90’s cultural idioms. Maike’s propensity to embrace change and challenge orthodoxy continues to deliver the band into ever new artistic territory. The 12-track full length debut from Deth Rali is expected in July 2024 on Mean World Records.
Formed in Denver, Colorado in 2021 Deth Rali initially started as a solo project for songwriter Jay Maike. After launching the project with his acclaimed synth-pop inspired ‘Light Levels’ EP, Maike (also an Instructor at Colorado College) joined forces with former student and guitarist Eliza Neiman-Golden (Tiny Tomboy) to start creating new music together in 2022. They were soon joined by veteran post-punk drummer Nathan Rodriguez (Replica City, Cherished) and bassist Hunter Bates (Mean World Records). The growing chemistry and vision of this lineup spawned a new era of collaborative work up to and including the new “Ruby’s Castle” sessions.

Gold Tides
Gold Tides may only be two years into their time together as a band, but listen to their new EP Mareas de Oro, and you’ll find massive desert surf rock hooks that sound like a band closing out a decade together. Dropping the lead single “So Far So Good” earlier this summer, the catchy chorus refrain and song title are an epic understatement.
As they close out another self-described “season,” Gold Tides can hang their hats on already releasing two short players, countless shows around Santa Fe and Albuquerque, and heading up to Denver this past summer to play the Underground Music Showcase, the city’s booming version of South By Southwest. To celebrate another successful summer, the band debuted their long-in-the-works short film, The Void, at a Halloween party for the Jean Cocteau Cinema. Featuring a hellish ride through Purgatory, the movie started as a project to keep the band focused during those quiet months in 2020. The screening at George R.R. Martin’s arthouse theatre is yet another milestone for a band building significant buzz.
