Betty Benedeadly
Betty Benedeadly’s solo debut, From the Mesa, delivers a trifecta of twang-edelic, trance-inducing rock & roll instrumentals. Recorded in an earthship in Taos, these songs invoke the spirit of the Northern New Mexico land with foot-stomping ritualistic rhythms and guitar-driven motifs that draw on Ennio Morricone’s spaghetti westerns, surf, and roots rock. From the Mesa was released March 12, 2021 on Desert Records.
Benedeadly is also the co-founder and guitarist of Sheverb, a womxn-led, collectively run, psychedelic rock & roll band based in Austin, TX. Armed with their instruments, this tribe is out to challenge our understanding of the romanticized Wild West with their desert-fueled, surf-infused sound. The core of this collective consists of a Betty Benedeadly, Xina Ocasio, Lainey Smith, James Mescall and Braden Guess, who bring together the guitar twang of spaghetti westerns, the driving rhythms of krautrock and the panoramic aesthetic of the big screen.

Dandelioness
The first thing you notice about Chloe Grace Caemmerer’s work as Dandelioness is her radioactive falsetto, followed by her exquisite and excruciating lyrics.
Chloe Grace spent the first half of her life in India, and the echoes of droning ragas from her upbringing in New Delhi meld with the Cascade Mountain birdsong of her birthplace to create a unique and hypnotic strain of folk pop.
Dandelionesses debut album cannibalizes the melancholia of Ovid, Milton, Shakespeare, Poe and Plath, charting the tumultuous journey of a first love torn in half by long distance. Flickering between mascara-stained visions of the underworld and an apocalyptic American West, the music from ‘Scorpio Ballads’ is both haunting and redemptive.
In her work as Dandelioness, Chloe Grace wholeheartedly embodies the solo singer songwriter trope, sitting cross-legged on her little island of reverb in a sea of noise. Does she dream up these dark, whimsical landscapes simply to console herself? How nice it is that, in the dusty fallout of our listening, we are also consoled.
